Here's a list of heartfelt projects from around the web that are simple to make and fully customizable.
- The Crafty Mummy has a cute idea for bead and ribbon bookmarks. She used lots of pretty butterfly beads, but just about any bead style will do. It's a good idea to have a big eye needle on hand for help stringing the ribbon.
- Amy of About.com Crochet shows us how to make easy crochet and bead bracelets. Stitch up a set if you really want to make an impression.
- Grab some craft wire and follow Crafts-for-All-Seasons' tutorial for wrapping up beautiful, beaded serving spoons (or forks!). Drop by your local thrift store to scout out some pretty designs.
- This one is especially great to do with the kids: bead up some fun patterns with safety pins! Sherri on About.com Family Crafts shares her instructions and a slew of free patterns to choose from. Mom is bound to find these fun to "share, wear, and swap" -- OK, maybe not swap. They're Mother's Day gifts, after all.
- Heather Dismore explains how to make a bead encrusted photo frame on Dummies.com. In the tutorial she uses glue, but you can also try some of the newer products on the market, such as epoxy clay.
- Use odd-count peyote stitch to bead up a Mother's Day cuff bracelet using this free pattern from Fusion Beads.
- Courtesy of Tammy on About.com Jewelry Making, string an elegant beaded bracelet on elastic cord featuring your mom's favorite colors or her children's birthstone hues.
- Michaels shares an idea for personalizing a pillar candle with scrapbook paper, ribbon, and beads.
